Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)

In SHM the question is always the same... Why do we really need to monitor structures? Because they are exposed to threats throughout their useful life...
There is a continuous process of deterioration, which has to be localised, quantified, and which requires action to be taken to protect and strengthen the asset.
For this reason, a process of measurement and evaluation of the fundamental parameters of the structure (assestment) must be built, leading to a diagnosis, mitigating the risk and increasing its intrinsic security.
